Later today we will meet with a contractor who will be quoting us on building a new barn. This part could be fun assuming that I don’t choke on the quote. 😂">

All we could do is stand there and watch. We were traumatized because we just knew that all of Peyton’s show rabbits were gone. I immediately called my best friend who came running over with a determination that I honestly thought would be pointless. But she was able to pull 17 rabbits out to safety.

We had to wait until daylight to attempt to rescue the rest, and with a heat index of 112 I was not very optimistic. But y’all!!! The Calvary arrived with chainsaws and they were able to carve their way into the barn to rescue the rest. We didn’t lose a single animal.

A miracle in itself!!

I currently have all of the rabbits in tiny cage holes inside my house. We will definitely be roughing it for a while until we can rebuild and buy more cages. But we are so thankful for all of their lives being spared! And we are also thankful for those who rushed over on Father’s Day to put in a lot of hard work in the extreme heat.">

I have to say… I wasn’t sure about chaperoning some high school kids on a week long trip, but these kids have wowed me. They are literally the most polite, well behaved, self disciplined kids I’ve ever met. This is definitely turning into a pleasant experience for us all.

Peyton is one of six students in Lakeview’s AFJROTC who has earned her Sharpshooter rank on the marksmanship team. She attended the state competition and ranked 3rd out of 167 shooters in the Air Force branch. She is 8th out of 189 shooters in all branches of military… this makes her the highest point shooter in the history of Lakeview’s JROTC program. EVER! And she is only 19 points away from earning Expert shooter, which she is expected to earn this summer at marksmanship camp.

When we enrolled at Lakeview, I actually tried to talk her out of joining ROTC. I thought that was for kids who planned to join the military. I’m so glad she didn’t listen to me because I have watched her grow and gain so much confidence. She has become a leader and has learned so much about herself, our community, and our government.">
