It has been an exciting week over here at The Robin’s Nest. We have Holland Lop babies that were born from not one, but TWO different does. Each doe is currently nursing three kits, and they have the biggest plump bellies. It’s very hard to just let them be.
The first doe that kindled is a blue doe that I bought from a breeder in Texas. I bred her to my gorgeous frosty buck, and she gave birth to four kits. Unfortunately one of them did not thrive, but the others are doing very well. I’m still unsure of their colors yet. What do you think? Can you guess their colors?

The second set of kits that were born are from my fuzy doe. She is a fuzzy broken black doe that I bought from a breeder down in South Louisiana. I never intended to actually breed her. She was supposed to just be a pet, but as she got older I couldn’t help but notice how almost perfect her ears, crown, and mass were. I had to breed her at least once, and I’m so glad I did. We ended up with three super cute little broken black babies.

Bunny Fun Facts
Did you know that when a rabbit gives birth to a set of babies, it is called kindling? Not sure who came up with that one, but it is what it is. Did you also know that a “litter” of baby bunnies is actually called kits? or kittens? Why not just call them a litter of bunnies? HAHA
Holland Lop Babies
I will probably always call them Holland Lop babies. Calling them kittens or kits just feels weird. Either way, we will be growing these little ones out for a few months until we decide if we want to keep any of them for ourselves or not. I’m trying to be good and not hold on to all of them because at some point I might become the crazy bunny lady. But it is so hard to let them go when it is time. My hope is that I will find families who are active in their local 4H or rabbit clubs, and will want to show them. Or families who just want a somebunny to love them would be nice too! 🙂
